I was commissioned by the City of New York to paint barrier benches for the "Beautification of NYC" program. These are located in Straus Square on the Lower East Side.
I chose Plum Blossoms because of its close location to China Town. The Plum Blossom is the national flower of China. Encompassing the flowers, I created a free hand, graffiti-inspired, continuous line (called a one-liner), further connecting the pieces to its urban environment.
It took me 3 days to complete the paintings at a warehouse in New Jersey. they were then brought by truck and installed in the square.
