The news of the solar eclipse swept the country on Monday, 4/8/2024.
From traffic jams to states calling for a "state of emergency" (??).
Americans across the country were geared up to watch, in some cases, a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon.
At the last minute, I decided to go to the beach to watch.
It did become colder, windier, and darker during the event. The darkness looked different than say a normal overcast. I am glad I was part of it.
I have always been interested in the sciences, did well in school, and certainly in astronomy. Years ago I bought a high-powered telescope that was supposed to be set up at our woodsy, country home we were building but that never came to fruition. It sits in the closet now because NYC has too much light pollution to see the planets properly. One day I will get to use it! In the meantime, keep looking up.
