I have never spent Christmas in the tropics. This past year I had the opportunity to spend Christmas in Delray Beach, Florida. It was wonderful! Many homes and shops were decorated for the occasion.
Instead of walking in the snow as we typically do in the northeast, I spent time walking in the sand on the magnificent beaches.
I came across these unusual creatures. What appeared to be delicate, blown glass vessels, are actually the Portuguese man-of-war washed up on the shore, scattered across the beaches of Boca Raton. I am sure it's no big deal to the locals, but being a city girl, I found them fascinating. The exquisite shade of blue and their surprising size and shape. Nature is perfect.
